Media/Tech Announcements News from the LibraryWelcome to the 2011-2012 school year!!
We will start the school year reviewing some basic computer skills and then continue on to research and projects connected with the curriculum of each grade level. All grades will practice keyboarding when time allows. Don't forget your children can practice keyboarding and other skills at home with the links below. Please remind your child to return their library books when they are finished with them so they will be able to check out more the next time they come to the library. We have so many great books in our library. We want them to be with the kids instead of sitting on the shelves. If you have a 6th grader, I teach an exploratory called Tech Tools which explores a little deeper into the Microsoft Office products and some other fun things we don't get to cover in the lower grades. I expect to have another successful year with Battle of the Books. If you have a 5th grade student and they love to read, have them consider joining Battle of the Books. A list of books can be found in the library, on this webpage, or at the Monument Public Library. We will start practicing in January. We will practice at lunch on Tuesdays (red week) and Wednesdays (blue week). Starting in March I like to add a second practice so we are practicing twice a week. This is where I need a parent to step in and help. If your child is on a Battle team please consider helping lead our second practice. It's easy! I have all the questions and answers so you don't even have to read the books!! We had a schedule conflict with Ameritowne, so we will not be competing at the regional battle at Colorado College. We will still have a school battle and we will compete at the district battle at Kilmer. Thanks for stopping by the Library/Technology page!!
